Finally, a hint that the NFL will eventually start again. The 2010 schedule of games was released on Tuesday. Here are some interesting notes about it.
The opener couldn't be any better with a rematch of last year's classic NFC championship game - Vikings @ Saints.
The NFL appears to be urging Brett Favre to return as 4 of the Vikings last 5 games are in domes, when outdoor stadiums could be very cold.
Speaking of Favre and the Vikings, how bout this little stretch of games Week 5 @ the Jets, Week 6 the Cowboys @ home, Week 7 @ the Packers, and Week 8 @ the Patriots. Ouch, that won't be easy.
Just when the Texans appear to be on their way and playoff bound, they get the toughest schedule in the NFL based on teams wins and losses from 2009.
The Super Bowl Champion New Orleans Saints draw the 27th toughest schedule which is also the 5th easiest. GGGRRRRAAAAVVVVYYYY!
Cowboy fans, you better be good as you get the 3rd toughest schedule in the league. In addition, your Boys will travel over 15,000 miles on their road games. If the Boys get to 10 wins, they will have earned every one of them.
The Colts schedule is the 11th hardest and this little stretch don't look fun at all - Week 10 Bengals (playoff team last year) @ Colts, Week 11 @ Patriots, Week 12 Chargers @ Colts, and Week 13 Cowboys @ Colts. Good news is 3 of those 4 are at home.
Steeler fans, you get the 21st hardest schedule and you only travel a little over 8,000 miles total to all of your road games but, Week 7 @ Dolphins, Week 8 @ Saints, Week 9 @ Bengals, and Week 10 Patriots @ home.
The Jets have loaded up and their schedule is only the 18th hardest but it isn't as easy as it looks. Patriots and Dolphins both home and away. Ravens, Vikings, Packers, Bengals, and Texans all are home games. Other than the Patriots and Dolphins on the road, the only other tough road game is at the Steelers. Tougher than it looks, but several of the tough games are at home.
Finally, some Thanksgiving Day games that can be considered decent. Patriots @ Lions - OK, don't count that one, sorry. Saints @ Cowboys and Bengals @ Jets.
And finally, we don't have to tolerate the Sunday night World Series game. The NFL has not scheduled a Sunday night game in the past when the World Series is being played. Well, that changes this year. Saints vs Steelers - SWEET !
Enjoy your NFL !
